Liveblogging Arsenal v. Everton, second half

Well, that was about the worst performance I have seen from this Arsenal team since I’ve been a supporter. From front to back the team is simply disorganized. I liked Sylvestre in defense quite a bit — as long as he doesn’t try to get too cute he’s a solid defender. Alex Song as right back is abysmal. Denilson is simply disinterested in playing which is a mirror of that Sunderland game where he gave the ball away and basically sauntered up and down the pitch. Nasri hasn’t done anything so far and Eboue is his typical Eboueness on the right wing. And up front, the route one football is just not working. It might work eventually but it’s not working so far. Also, both strikers are just simply profligate at the moment.

Maybe Arsene will rip them a new one in the dressing room. Either way, I think I predicted a 2-1 win last week from a scrappy, ugly game. I think it was part of a pattern 2-1 to Hull, 1-1 to Sunderland, and thus 2-1 to Arsenal against Everton, right???

8:07 — Wenger subs Theo for Toure, which means that Song pairs with Sylvestre in the back.

8:10 — WOOO HOOO NASRI!!! He’s already 200% better than Hleb. 1-1 to the Arsenal.

8:14 — Arsenal smell blood, or maybe Wenger ripped them a new one, I don’t know. It’s like night and day as Arsenal really start to press for the second goal.

8:17 — van Persie misses a sitter after some brilliant play from Theo Walcott. Come on Robin, just guide the ball into the net for once. Oh Matt, it has to be Theo for me. I wanted a Denilson strip but he’s too inconsistent. Theo is like a great ebony English god.

8:20 — that is as clear a penalty as I have ever seen. Banes just literally shoved van Persie down. Followed by a two-footed tackle which should be a straight red and then Hibbert grabs Clichy by the throat which is also a straight red.

Yellow given, complete bullshit.

8:24 — Theo is down, this is a very scary moment for the team, could have been a clash of heads.

8:27 — Peener gets a yellow for a ticky-tack foul. The ref is having as much a nightmare as Denilson had in the first half.

8:32 — I’m wolfing down my eggs and mash and just about to post how Arsenal are reverting back to their old “pass the ball into the net” selves when van Persie gets the second goal off a scrappy header from some really magical play by Adebayor, Nasri and even Denilson.  2-1 to the Arsenal.  Let’s get another!!

8:36 — I wonder if there’s a stat for “most missed headers” because if there were, we’d be winning that category easily.

8:40 — Theo has to be man of the match so far, his pace and runs at the Everton defense have totally decimated them.

8:42 — Everton sub their new cunt Hibbert for their old cunt Neville

8:45 — Diaby on, Nasri off, let’s hope Nasri isn’t injured and also that Diaby doesn’t pick up another. 8 minutes to go.

8:52 — perfect way to end the match, great interplay between Diaby and Theo and Theo passes the ball into the back of the net: van Persie is seen scribbling furiously into his notebook “OH THAT’S HOW YOU SCORE WIDE OPEN GOALS!”

8:56 — Final whistle blows and the match ends 3-1 to the Arsenal. No doubt that Theo is man of the match: he provided pace, width, and a drive to win the match. Maybe Theo is the next leader of this team?

9:00 — Ok. Well see you all tomorrow for “The Good, Bad, and Ugly.” It’s a good day to be an Arsenal supporter!

I have been debating whose strip to buy…I am thinking Nasri now. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.

Good to see Nasri on the sheet. We need one more from someone. The pacing has been quite slow.

Fun to listen to the English announcers slob Theo’s knob…

If tenuous passing = goals, it’d be over a long time ago.

Hey, I don’t suppose you want to exchange blog links? I’m going to add yours anyway, because I’m too lazy to have to click on goonertalk to get to this one. I think I spent the match watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which is the way I want to remember Arsenal oddly enough.

Sure Connolly, I need at least one pink blog in my life!

Also I had to look up Antipodean.
